Emergent Technologies Institute taking shape
Florida Gulf Coast University’s Emergent Technologies Institute (ETI) took another step towards realization Feb. 24 during a ground breaking at the construction site off Alico Road northeast of the main campus. Scheduled for completion by the end of the year, the ETI is a 6.5-acre research-and-development complex that will support new educational initiatives, enhance regional workforce and economic development, and foster collaboration involving higher education, government and industry.
FGCU Wins Florida Campus Compact Award
Florida Gulf Coast University has again been recognized in the annual Florida Campus Compact Awards, which spotlight achievements by higher-education institutions in engaging students in community-enriching service.
11 softball players honored as All-America Scholar-Athletes
Following another successful season on the field, the FGCU softball program saw 11 members earn recognition for their academic success from the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association. The Eagles received 11 All-America Scholar-Athlete honorees, the NFCA announced.
Artist in residence explores crossroads of art and science
A new residency program in the Bower School of Music and the Arts reflects FGCU’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning and to growth in FGCU’s Art Department and Art Galleries. Tampa sculptor Joe Griffith was selected to be the first resident artist in the program, and his work will be exhibited Jan. 15-Feb. 12 in the ArtLab.
