FGCU Foundation Board announces new officers and directors

The Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation Inc. has approved its slate of officers, elected four new board members and re-elected another four members for a second term.

Foundation board officers for fiscal year 2021-2022 are Chair Chuck Ketteman, Vice Chair Mayela Rosales, Treasurer Doug VanOort and Secretary Geurt Peet.

Newly elected board members are: 

Mr. Brett Diamond is a native of Naples and serves as the chief innovation officer of DeAngelis Diamond. Throughout college and his early 20s, Diamond spent much of his time building various businesses, while traveling across the country to learn from top technology leaders. In 2012, Diamond and his father, David, launched Venture X, a sustainable, luxurious office space designed with health and wellness in mind. The brand is now global with 120 locations open and under development. At 24, he was voted and featured in the annual “40 under 40” Gulfshore Business article in 2013. Diamond graduated from FGCU in 2012 and served on the Alumni Association Board from 2014 to 2016.

Ms. Claudine Leger-Wetzel is vice president of sales and marketing for Stock Development and owner of LVJ Marketing, a full-service marketing consulting firm based in Naples. Leger-Wetzel attended Florida State University. At Stock Development, she manages the company’s charitable initiatives. She has served as chair of the Education Foundation of Collier County, earning the “Glass Slipper” award, and is involved with Boys & Girls Club, Immokalee Toy Drive, PACE Center for Girls and Hope Clubhouse. “This is a personal passion of mine, plus Stock Development is passionate about fostering the youth in the community through education,” Leger-Wetzel said. Prior to Stock Development, she was with WCI for 10 years.

Ms. Gail Markham is the founding partner of the accounting firm Markham Norton Mosteller Wright and Company PA. Markham has been recognized as an outstanding community leader on numerous occasions and was inducted to the Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida and received WGCU’s Makers Award in 2013. In 2011, Markham was named “Woman of the Year” by Gulfshore Life Magazine. Her firm has consistently ranked one of Florida’s Best Companies to Work For by Florida Trend Magazine and was named the Best Accounting Firm of Southwest Florida by Gulfshore Business Magazine. Markham’s firm is a scholarship donor and also a donor to Lucas Hall, home to FGCU’s Daveler & Kauanui School of Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Michael Wynn is a 2005 Graduate of FGCU with an MBA. As CEO of Sunshine Ace Hardware, Wynn takes great pride in continuing the traditions established by his grandfather. He was named Outstanding Collier County Citizen of the Year in 2019, won the 2019 Business Observer Top Entrepreneurs Icon Award and named the 2017 Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni of the Year. He supports organizations such as the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and the Naples Community Hospital. He is passionate about building the leaders of tomorrow and helping retain talent in Naples with Youth Leadership Collier. Wynn also serves on the Advisory Board for FGCU’s School of Entrepreneurship and has contributed to that building fund.

Board members serving a second four-year term are:

Dr. Larry Antonucci, is the president/CEO of Lee Health. Prior to joining Lee Health in 2007, Antonucci was a well-respected, practicing obstetrician and gynecologist (OB/GYN) for 24 years. In 2007, Antonucci joined Lee Health as chief administrative officer for Cape Coral Hospital. In 2009, he was appointed chief operating officer of Hospital Services. In October 2011, Antonucci was named chief operating officer for the health system. He was named president and chief executive officer of Lee Health in June 2017.

Mr. Harry Casimir graduated from FGCU in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems and earned his MBA with a concentration in project management from Norwich University in Vermont. After graduating from FGCU, Casimir stayed connected to and involved with the university. Casimir is the founder and president of Board Management. He is the chief technology officer of ATILUS, a digital agency he co-founded while attending FGCU. Casimir is also the president/CEO of Dixivox, S.A., an international value-added services (VAS) telecommunication company based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Ms. Mary Beth Geier serves as the Florida region coordinator and senior program officer for the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and works out of the Naples office. She is responsible for the Collier and Lee county areas of interest for the foundation and performs site visits, prepares evaluations and offers recommendations while serving as the liaison to the numerous charitable organizations in Lee and Collier counties. Geier also coordinates the Schulze Scholar Program in Collier County, which awards 15 Collier County seniors who are attending a post-secondary university with four-year scholarships. Geier received her bachelor’s degree in educational leadership from FGCU in 2016.

Mr. Michael Hartley is the CEO of Standard Bent Glass in Butler, Pennsylvania, as well as several other companies he has purchased and/or founded located in Western Pennsylvania. Standard Bent Glass produces high-end complex architectural glass shapes as well as transparent armor for the U.S. military. Hartley has actively bought and sold companies throughout the world, including in Australia, Canada, China, Brazil, Mexico and England, as well as those in Alabama, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Texas. Hartley and his wife have been strong supporters of FGCU’s Athletics program for several years.
