FGCU to award 1,023 degrees at fall commencement

Fort Myers, Fla. – Dec. 12, 2019 – Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) will award 1,023 degrees in fall 2019, with 863 graduates expected to participate in commencement ceremonies at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in Alico Arena.

FGCU President Michael V. Martin will confer degrees, and the commencement address will be presented by Charles B. Edwards. Edwards was the chair of the Florida Board of Regents when FGCU was founded. FGCU’s Charles B. Edwards Hall is named in honor of his leadership.

Psychology is the most represented bachelor’s with 63 degrees awarded.  The most represented master’s is business administration with 23 degrees awarded.

Tickets for 4,912 guests have been distributed for the two ceremonies, which also can be viewed via webcast at https://fgcu.edu/webcast.

Alico Arena policy prohibits balloons and loud noisemakers, and they will not be allowed indoors during the ceremonies.

FGCU has awarded more than 35,000 degrees since opening in fall 1997.
