FGCU adds to media and public relations team

Fort Myers, Fla.—Sept. 12, 2019—Annie Hubbell, a television reporter in Southwest Florida for the last four years, is joining Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Marketing & Communications as assistant director, media and public relations.

In the new role, Hubbell will expand FGCU’s efforts to create a media-friendly campus. She will seek out newsworthy stories and cultivate experts who are readily available to discuss a variety of topics. Hubbell will also proactively work with the media to keep FGCU involved in the conversations that matter to the community.

Hubbell is currently a multimedia journalist at Waterman Broadcasting in Fort Myers. She can be seen on NBC2 and previously worked as the weekend anchor and multimedia journalist at ABC7. After earning her bachelor’s in communication from Auburn University, Hubbell started her career at WTVM/WXTX in Columbus, Georgia, as a multimedia television reporter and fill-in anchor.

A Tampa native, Hubbell will start her new position Monday, Oct. 7, and will be reporting to Kyle McCurry, director, media and public relations.
